Eliza & Wyld is an independent tech publication that tests apps on real devices and writes comparison guides with honest recommendations. We are not affiliated with any app developer or manufacturer.

Who We Are

Eliza & Wyld was founded by Alex Navarro, a tech journalist based in Austin, Texas, with six years of experience reviewing apps, devices, and workflows across Android and iOS platforms.

The site exists because most app recommendation content falls into two traps: either a surface-level listicle naming 50 apps with one sentence each, or a paid promotion dressed up as a review. Neither helps someone decide what to install.

What We Cover

We publish four types of content:

  • App Picks are curated roundups grouped by real use cases, not generic categories. Every app listed is tested for a minimum of one week on actual hardware.
  • Phone Tips cover device optimization, from storage management to battery settings. Steps are tested on current OS versions and updated when interfaces change.
  • App Comparisons put similar apps side by side with feature tables, pricing breakdowns, and a clear recommendation. We compare free tiers first.
  • Tech Explained breaks down features, terminology, and technology concepts in language that assumes no prior expertise.
